Ozone Monitoring
AP's strength in ozone has allowed us to solve
numerous measurement challenges in the ozone industry where the ways
in which ozone is being beneficially applied are many and constantly
evolving.
In ozone health and safety monitoring or
industrial process control of ozone generators, our meters, monitors
and controllers have the sensing technology and features needed to
consistently deliver to your requirements.
Current sophisticated, expensive ambient air
pollution monitoring technology is not economically sustainable as
the sole approach and cannot keep up with current needs,
specifically new monitoring networks and special purpose monitoring. |

Measuring ozone toxicity
The detectors measure the ambient ozone levels in commercial
kitchens, water and sewage treatment plants, homes and industries in
a variety of safety related applications.
Ozone is used in many industrial processes and in commercial
buildings.
It has become increasingly important to measure ozone
around ozone generators, air purifying units, electrostatic filters,
systems for needle ionization and tube ionization, systems emitting
UV radiation as well as other types of installations that produce
ozone.
The ozone detector is used to protect and alert people for exposure
from ozone and to abide with the requirements of the Swedish Work
Environment Authority. Threshold level is
0,1ppm = 0.2 mg/m3 (exposure limit value for a working day)
and maximum threshold is 0,3ppm = 0.6 mg/m3 (exposure limit for a reference period of 15 minutes).
The detector is also used to detect
leaks and to provide automatic control of various processes and
equipment.
In the US, the exposure limit is 0,05ppm (50ppb), which is
recommended as an critical alarm.
O3 -detectors from Automatikprodukter are intended for early
detection of ozone, measurements and control of the air, including
process ozones (high levels), ambient ozones (low levels)
and flue gas zones
(low concentrations).
This is a long-term requirements of the WHO
(World Health Organisation), as exposure limit for ozone. Some OVK
controllers set their own emission limits for ozone at a maximum of
0.04 ppm (ie 40 ppb).
The measurement should be carried out
about 0.3 m above the floor since it is a heavy gas with a
specific density of 1.7. The density of air is 1.0
The detector requires no further calibration by a qualified
technician.
Ozone is a toxic gas. Many Europeans will die of diseases triggered
by rising concentrations of ground-level ozone in the next years.
The human nose is not sensitive enough to detect the metallic smell
from ozone.
Our sense of smell also varies greatly between people and can be
influenced by local environmental conditions.

Electrochemical ozone sensor for fast
response
Our EOZ sensor (0-10ppm) incorporates a Kalman filter and
advanced signal processing to give excellent linearity across the
entire range.
The screen updates every 4 seconds making
this sensor an excellent choice for leak detection and health and
safety monitoring where the user is moving quickly between
locations.
Because the sensors can be swapped in and out
– one portable monitor can harness both ozone sensor technologies in
the same device. |

PS 300 - Ozone Monitor with alarm and
control functions. In addition to the functions of PS 200 there are
the following functions.
There are user defined high and
low alarm set points which will trigger an audible alarm when the
ozone concentration exceeds the set point.
A key feature of PS 300 Portable Ozone Monitor is the ability to operate in control mode.
Upper and lower control limits can be easily
set directly on the display.
Using the 0-5V output the PS 300 can be
used to switch on or off an externally connected device, such as an
ozone generator, or system in the presence of a predetermined level
of gas.
By selecting the optional wall-mount bracket
and plugging in mains power PS 300 is effectively able to
act as a fixed monitor as well as a handheld portable device.
For those wanting to recalibrate in the field,
PS 300 allows adjustment of zero and span.
Together with the R42 Calibration
Accessory and an ozone generator this function allows the sensor
head to be fully recalibrated without having to return it to AP.
Alternatively the sensor head can be returned
to AP for a factory calibration which includes a renewed calibration
certificate.

Calibration
The Calibration Accessory is a simple and effective tool for
calibrating sensor heads for handheld and fixed monitors.
By delivering a consistent flow of
calibration gas to the sensor head, without forcing air at the
sensor, it ensures the most accurate calibration possible.
The calibration tool can also be used to
humidify the gas which is important for best results with GSS
sensors. Further information on how to
calibrate sensor heads can be found in the pdf to the right. |

Revolutionising Outdoor Air Surveys
New portable monitors with exchangeable sensor heads revolutionise
the way researchers, consultants, and environmental managers gather
outdoor air quality data, thanks to the rapid take-up of the PS 500
ENV handheld monitor.
Lightweight and ultraportable the PS 500 ENV
accurately measures common air pollutants down to ambient
concentrations – as low as ppb in some cases.
Until now those wanting outdoor air quality
information have been limited to using diffusion tubes which are
variable in accuracy and unable to give real time data, or optical
reference analysers which lack portability and are hugely expensive.
|
|
The PS 500 ENV meets the need for accurate
real-time air quality information in a portable lightweight package
that is easily affordable for short term studies, hot-spot
monitoring, and taking intermittent measurements.
The PS 500 ENV comes equipped with a lithium
battery capable of 8 hours continuous operation before charging is
required, and can log over 8,100 measurements – more than enough for
a full day in the field.
Customers can choose from a range of
interchangeable sensor heads including nitrogen dioxide, carbon
monoxide, carbon dioxide, ozone, hydrogen sulphide, sulphur dioxide,
ammonia, and VOCs amongst others.
A simple to use software package lets them
download and manipulate data on their PC.
And by adding the water and dust proof
enclosure, the PS 500 ENV can be left in situ for a number of days,
allowing for trend data to be captured.
